Hi, I'm Philippa, a professional dog trainer with Bark Busters, proudly helping dog owners throughout Canberra, and the entire ACT region.
My passion for dogs and animals has shaped much of my life and career. Before becoming a dog trainer, I worked as an equestrian coach, a veterinary nurse, and I also spent time teaching veterinary nursing at TAFE. These experiences gave me a wonderful understanding of both animal behaviour and the special bond that exists between dogs and their owners.
Over the years, I've met countless families who love their dogs but are struggling with behaviours that are causing stress at home. Whether you need help with puppy training, barking, jumping, aggression, pulling on the lead, or separation anxiety, I understand how challenging these issues can be. Helping owners understand their dogs and create lasting positive change is what I love most about my work.

Why I Became a Dog Trainer
Dogs are incredible companions. They bring joy, loyalty, comfort, and unconditional love into our lives. Unfortunately, when behavioural problems develop, many owners can feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or even helpless.
What I've learned throughout my career is that dogs aren't deliberately naughty or disobedient. They're simply communicating in the only way they know how if they lack leadership, don’t understand what you want or are stressed. My role as a dog trainer is to help bridge that communication gap, building trust and respect, giving owners the skills and confidence to better understand their dogs while helping dogs learn what is expected of them.
Every dog is different, which is why every dog training program I deliver is tailored to the individual dog, family, and situation.
