I found Hugh's manner very compassionate and he explained how we can address our dogs behaviour in a non judgemental and easy to understand way. He was very patient with us and gave us back the confidence that we can address these behaviours in Sophie with consistent training and practice that is managable, given our busy lifestyles, between both of us working, managing the house and looking after our young children. He also gave us some suggestions on various tools to use to monitor our dogs behaviour when we are out of the house, which we are yet to use but will put in place soon.

Thank you Hugh - you came to my home and made me feel instantly comfortable. You let Zoe jump up on you (as she does) and did not ever make me feel like I had done something wrong with how to manage her. Even though she has been with me such a short time (less than 4 weeks and with such a troubled past) you recognized that she is such an intelligent dog that we can work through this as a team. I hope that I can remember all of the things we discussed tonight - but even if we don't I know that you are happy to do a follow up session and have even recommended an appointment sooner than the usual. I have been so worried about how I was going to manage some things with her as I had to wait for almost 2 weeks for our appointment I am now able to relax somewhat. She had been rehoused 4 times now and is not yet 3 years old so now she has found someone who is not going to let up on her and willing to invest the time required to make her the best dog she can ever be. We were skeptical at first because we honestly thought there mustn't be too much else we could try, but Hugh gave us a new and fresh perspective. The program was tailored and strategic. Despite my initial anxiety when Mariposa was very aggressive with Hugh, Hugh remained calm and focused, which made me relax and enjoy the session. We are hopeful that Mariposa will become less fearful and aggressive.

Since moving to Perth we have been having alot of trouble getting our dog to listen and follow directions which has been particularly difficult at the beach or in the dog park when he is off lead. Hugh taught us some techniques for getting his attention in the backyard to start with and after one session we are already seeing improvement. It was actually really enjoyable and rewarding learning from Hugh and we are looking forward to the next session!
