Our 5-year-old labrador, Bernie, has been anxious since he was a puppy. He’s loving and outgoing with people he knows and he’s relaxed in familiar spaces or outside when no strangers are around. But whenever we had visitors or went somewhere new, he’d be on high alert, visibly stressed and constantly scanning for “dangers.” It was as if he went deaf to us, no matter what we did to get his attention - he would be on high alert and stressed.
Being a pandemic dog made things harder. He missed critical socialisation with other people and dogs, and his early interactions with other “pandemic dogs” weren’t great, which only made him more wary.
We’d tried other trainers before, but they told us this was just his nature and we should limit his exposure. That didn’t sit right with us, because once Bernie feels comfortable he’s incredibly loving and loves people, dogs and exploring. And we’re social people, so we want our dog to share in our daily life.
From the first session, Emma was amazing. She explained the root of his behaviour and walked us through the solution step by step, starting with theory and then showing us exactly what to do in practice. By the end of the session, Bernie was a different dog. He even lay down calmly while Emma was in the house, something he had never done with new visitors!
We realised we simply hadn’t been communicating to him in a way that reassured him we had things under control. I’ve since been gradually introducing Bernie to new experiences, and I now also feel confident handling these situations. His stress and anxiety are at an all-time low, and he’s thriving!!
I couldn’t recommend Emma more. Thank you for everything!! :)

Glen is an absolutely amazing dog trainer. He trained my German Shepherd who sadly passed away last year at the age of 13, and now he’s working with my new puppy, a Rottweiler x German Shepherd named Chomper.

Ric was amazing with our dachshund Daisy!
He gave us simple corrections to follow when she is reactive that we are looking forward to working on with her. She responded so well to the training in the first session with Ric! He has a really good way with dogs. We have been given a clear training schedule to work on before our next session in two weeks time. Excited to see the progress with his training methods.

We had a great first training session with Kye! He clearly understands dogs and guided us through managing the biggest issue, sibling rivalry (amongst other issues) in an easy way. He explained the dog’s point of view to us very well and I’m actually surprised how well our three dogs responded to the training techniques! We feel so much more confident in training and managing our dogs rivalry already using the training guide left for us.

My dachshund Frankie developed separation anxiety after the passing of our second dog. She would howl nonstop whenever left alone, making it nearly impossible to leave the house, let alone go to work. It was heartbreaking and incredibly stressful for both of us.
Working with Kelly from Bark Busters has been an absolute game-changer. Her calm, knowledgeable approach and tailored training plan gave us real hope. With consistency, patience, and Kelly’s guidance, Frankie now stays home peacefully and sleeps while I’m at work.
It’s been such a relief emotionally—and Frankie’s behaviour overall is better than ever. I can’t thank Kelly enough for helping us get through such a tough time. Highly recommend her to anyone dealing with behavioural issues, especially separation anxiety.

Such a sad reason for training, it is so hard for the human to lose a loved pet, but so confusing for the dog, as they don't understand why their BFF is suddenly gone. I applaud you both, in your grief, for putting Frankie's care and welfare first, and WOW, isn't she such a good girl! From fearful, skittish, barking, growling to a lovely Dachshund with a happy wagging tail, who is now listening to commands, will recall when told, and doesn't race out doors like a gremlin. But, the separation anxiety has always been the main focus, and to get the news that she's sleeping the whole day away (lucky girl!) is music to my ears! No food bribes, no harsh shock collars, nothing but training the humans to understand their dog, and creating a much stronger relationship at the same time. I am thrilled to pieces for you both, and I am looking forward to lesson #3, walking in a high dog/people dense park, and managing those beahviours - massive well done, Tim!
